IP gateway is assigned an IP address by your service provider.
Network Address Translation (NAT) handles the outgoing TCP/IP connections. This allows any number of local Ethernet devices to act as outgoing TCP/IP clients to access remote servers.
The IP gateway will appear to the "public" Internet as a single IP address. You can set the modem's TCP port numbers to direct incoming connections to local Ethernet devices.
